Dark Circus Software, LLC ("Dark Circus Software", "we", "us", or "our") operates AI Reloads (also referred to as AIReloading), a handloading (ammunition reloading) application available as a website and as a companion mobile app for Android and Windows. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions after reading it, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

Data we collect

What we collect depends on how you use AI Reloads:

  • Account data. If you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Reloading data. Components (bullets, cases, guns, powders, primers), recipes, charges, and velocity measurements you enter, along with your preferred display units. This data drives the ballistics calculations the app performs for you.
  • AI conversation data. If you use an AI-assisted feature (load suggestions, charge fixing, component picture identification, or shopping suggestions), the prompts you submit, any photos you provide, and the responses returned are stored against your account so you can review them later.
  • Payment and subscription data. If you subscribe to a paid membership, our hosted payment provider processes your payment details directly — we do not receive or store your full card number. We keep a record of the transaction status (e.g. succeeded, failed) tied to your account.
  • Mobile app data. The mobile app can be used without an account, in which case your reloading data stays only in a local database on your device. If you sign in on mobile, that local data is synchronized to your website account so it's available across devices.
  • Technical and log data. We keep application logs (e.g. errors, request activity) to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

How we use your data

  • To provide the core features of the app: storing your components and recipes, and calculating ballistics results.
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • To generate AI-assisted suggestions when you request them.
  • To process subscription payments and manage your membership and AI query balance.
  • To synchronize data between the mobile app and your website account when you're signed in.
  • To maintain, secure, and improve the service, and to respond when you contact support.

AI features and third-party providers

AI-assisted features are optional and only run when you use them. Depending on how the service is configured, the content you submit to an AI feature (and any photo you attach) is sent to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI or Anthropic) to generate a response, which is then stored against your account. These providers process that content under their own respective privacy and data-use terms.

Payment processing

Subscription payments are handled entirely by our hosted payment provider (Stripe). Your payment card details are entered directly with Stripe and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. We only retain the resulting transaction and membership status.

Cookies and sign-in

The website uses an authentication cookie to keep you signed in. The mobile app uses a security token stored securely on your device instead of a cookie, along with a longer-lived token used to refresh your session without asking you to sign in again. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we share your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers described above (AI providers and our payment processor) to the extent necessary to deliver the feature you used, and where required to comply with the law.

Data retention

We retain account, reloading, and AI conversation data for as long as your account is active, so the app can continue to display your history. If you'd like your account or data deleted, contact us using the details below and we will process your request.

Security

Passwords are stored using a salted, industry-standard hashing algorithm — never in plain text. Access to your account data requires authentication, and mobile sign-in tokens are stored using your device's secure storage rather than the app's local database.

Your choices

  • You can use the mobile app as a guest, without an account, in which case your data stays only on your device.
  • You can review and update your account and preferences at any time while signed in.
  • You can choose whether to use AI-assisted features at all.
  • You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data.

Children's privacy

AI Reloads is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app or applicable law. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
